Lead Shot Campaign Launched

Countryside bodies have come together to launch a new campaign promoting compliance with existing law on lead shot.

BASC, the Countryside Alliance, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, the Country Land & Business Association (CLA), Wildlife Estates, Scottish Land & Estates, The National Gamekeepers’ Organisation, The Scottish Gamekeepers’ Association, The Moorland Association, and the Union of Country Sports Workers have come together to launch the Lead Shot Campaign, which aims to ensure that all shooters are aware of the law on using lead shot, and comply with it.

Non-complicance with existing restrictions is sometimes used as an argument for banning lead shot completely, on the grounds that current legislation is insufficient. The joint effort to raise awareness of the importance of using lead properly, backed by support from the people taking part in shooting, aims to prove the existing legislation is enough.
