Fieldsports on the up

The 2015 Game Shooting and Fishing Survey shows that fieldsports are thriving and spending is up this year. More than 3,000 people responded to the survey, which was conducted by Strutt and Parker real estate and online shoot directory Guns on Pegs. The average annual spend on game shooting was calculated at £5,533 and 38 per cent of respondents said they plan to spend more this season. The survey also showed that around six per cent of people shooting in the UK have travelled from abroad, highlighting Britain’s desirability as a hunting destination. The South West remained the most popular country sports area in the country, but Scotland and the South East were strong contenders, with a grouse shooting in Scotland seeing an increase in popularity.
